CHAMP (Children, Healthy and Active! Multi-agency Programme) is a local child public health initiative that continues with a finale event for the year named ‘A Winter of Festive Cheer & Good News’, held at Casemates Square.
CHAMP is a well-supported multi-agency programme set up to promote healthy living for Gibraltar’s childhood population. The programme is led by local professionals from across Health, Social Care, Education, Public Health, Sports and Leisure Authority, Youth and Cultural Services, along with local businesses and NGOs. The membership continues to expand in keeping with CHAMP’s mission to make CHAMPions of everyone, everywhere in Gibraltar.
The winter event focuses on ‘CHAMP about Town’. Children and families are invited to embark on a treasure hunt starting from Casemates, along Main Street and back via Irish Town. Multiple educational quiz stops are stationed along the route. There will be prizes for successful participants on completion of the treasure hunt.
Other tasks on the day include guessing how many steps it would take to complete the roundtrip and the first 20 participants to sign up for the event will be given a pedometer towards this task. Prizes are also going to be given to those with the correct/nearest answer to this.
The CHAMP Winter event will also be marked by a government pledge to help ‘Make Healthy Choices the Easy Choices’ right here at home in Gibraltar. We hope to see you there!
